critically... Intelligence plus character -- that is the goal of true education. --

2016-2017 TK/Kindergarten and New Student Enrollment
(There are no school site specific forms)
IMMUNIZATION: Immunization must be fully completed/up to date (on schedule) for enrollment, unless exempted as provided by law. According to the California Department of Public Health, children can be fully immunized for school entry into transitional kindergarten/kindergarten by 4 years of age. A new law SB277, effective January 1, 2016, eliminates personal/religious beliefs exemptions. Medical exemptions signed by a physician (M.D. or D.O.) licensed in California are acceptable.”
TK Interest Wait List Information:
Parents of children with a fifth birthday between June 1st and September 1st, 2016 who wish to enroll their child into a TK class, MUST place their name on a District Interest Wait List. After March 1, 2016, at 8:00 AM, go to the District Website and select "TK Interest Wait List" to put your child's name on the list. The assigned TK school site will notify parents on the Interest List starting in June, or later in the summer, of an opening in TK. The parent will then be given 48 hours to enroll. Due to increased numbers of students required to enroll in TK, please note space is very limited and will be determined on a first-come, first served basis.
Canyon View Elementary will facilitate a TK/K parent orientation meeting in August. Please view the following power point as it may help to answer immediate questions that you have regarding our TK program and the enrollment process for TK and K. If you have further questions, please contact our office. Thank You!
PUSD is aware of the amendment to California Education Code 48000(c) which permits districts the option to enroll students who turn 5 years of age after December 2 to be admitted to the Transitional Kindergarten program. After a review of this option, our District enrolls only students who meet the cutoff date of December 2 into the Transitional Kindergarten program.

Recognizing the great need for students to keyboard accurately and efficiently, PUSD has enrolled all students in an excellent online keyboarding program, Typing Agent. This program adapts to each student’s needs as it moves them through proper posture and keyboarding practice. Students earn practice game time by completing lessons in the program. All students, K-8 can access Typing Agent by logging into their PUSD MyPlan accounts: https://myplan.powayusd.com/LoginPolicy.jsp and clicking on the Typing Agent icon found under applications. This takes students directly into the program.
